The BBA technical assessment is a very comprehensive and hands on analysis of supplier quality. This assessment reviews two key areas, product performance and manufacturing capability. Product performance is assessed through an exhaustive number of tests carried out in UKAS accredited labs. And our manufacturing processes were assessed at each of our sites, including in depth analysis of quality control procedures.
We are absolutely delighted to have undergone this process, and even happier to have passed with flying colours.
What are the Product Tests?
As part of the product performance assessment, samples are subjected to a wide range of stringent tests. These tests cover every key attribute of the product to ensure that it is not only fit for purpose but will excel in-situ. The tests cover UV stability, strength against scuffing and resistance to exposure from harmful substances, as well as a raft of other tests. The knowledge gained from the testing process is key for a manufacturer to understand resin bound surfacing and produce resin that is specifically developed for the use.
How is Manufacturing Quality Assessed?
Manufacturing Quality is assessed with site visits to each location that the product is made. These audits assess the manufacturers systems and controls to ensure each unit is made to the highest standard. The audit also covers the training of staff, adherence to standards, product traceability and internal process control. These audits are periodically reviewed to ensure continued compliance. Through this robust audit, the manufacturer must prove that they control the quality of raw materials arriving, the quality of the manufacturing process and the quality of the goods leaving the factory. Only with excellence in all these areas, can a manufacturer pass the BBA manufacturing quality audit.
"As an Account Manager for many years, you hear a lot of talk of BBA in the industry. What’s interesting is just how much emphasis is on the quality of our processes as a business. A BBA system is about being supplied that full system from the company who has undergone those tests and processes. As I go into my new role as Managing Director of Vuba Surfaces, I am delighted to demonstrate to our customers our continuous focus and dedication on quality and innovation. Myself and fellow Director Lucy Ackroyd, are very excited about what the future holds for us as a business. We have some big news coming this year about our £5m investment in manufacturing facilities over the next 12 months." Harry Iggleden, 2024
